EU Code Week 2026

Segesta in codice: entra nell’alleanza CodeWeek4All dell’IC Vivona

Come partecipare in 6 passi

Perché unirsi all’alleanza

Segesta in code: join the IC Vivona CodeWeek4All alliance

For EU Code Week 2026, IC “Francesco Vivona” in Calatafimi Segesta (Sicily, Italy) invites schools in Italy and abroad to run the same coding lab, “Segesta in code”, and to link their activities with a single code. Together we can earn the Code Week Certificate of Excellence.

  • When: EU Code Week, 10–25 October 2026. The CodeWeek4All challenge stays open until 31 December 2026.
  • Who for: classes of students aged 11–14, in Italy and abroad.
  • Cost: none. All tools and materials are free.

Our alliance code

IC Vivona CodeWeek4All code

cw26-JpxYy

Copy the code and paste it into the “Code Week 4 All code (optional)” field when you register your activity on codeweek.eu.

What is “Segesta in code”?

It is a 75-minute lab with Tinkercad Codeblocks. Students build a 3D model of the façade of the Doric temple of Segesta: three steps, six columns, the entablature and the pediment. A “repeat” loop builds the columns, and four variables (number of columns, pitch, radius and height) change the whole model.

  • Age: 11–14.
  • Length: 75 minutes.
  • What you need: one computer for every 2–3 students, with an Internet connection. Tinkercad is free; with Tinkercad Classes students join with a class code, without an email address.
  • Concepts: sequence, loop, variables, X, Y, Z coordinates, finding and fixing bugs.
  • Materials: a classroom presentation in English and in Italian (links at the bottom of the page).

Would you like to tell the story of your own area? You can build a monument from your town in the same way: the activity still counts for the alliance.

How to take part in 6 steps

  1. Create a free account on codeweek.eu (“Login / Register”).
  2. Prepare the lab with the “Segesta in code” presentation, in English or in Italian.
  3. Register your activity on the Add your activity page before you run it. It appears on the map once Code Week ambassadors approve it.
  4. Enter the code cw26-JpxYy in the “Code Week 4 All code (optional)” field. Without the code, your activity is not linked to the alliance.
  5. Run the activity between 10 and 25 October 2026, or at the latest by 31 December.
  6. After the activity, update the number of participants from your activities page on codeweek.eu and write to us at difranco.livio@istitutocomprensivovivona.edu.it with your school, country and date. We will send you an invitation to the online showcase of the models on [DATA-MOSTRA-ONLINE].

Why join the alliance

The CodeWeek4All challenge rewards collaboration. If our alliance reaches 10 linked activities from 10 different organisers or involves 3 countries, every organiser receives the Code Week Certificate of Excellence. The European team issues these certificates early in 2027. You can create participation certificates for your own students on the website right after your activity.

Official rules: CodeWeek4All challenge page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to use Tinkercad?

No. Any coding activity registered with our code counts for the alliance. “Segesta in code” is our shared proposal, but you can also link an activity with Scratch, with robots or without computers.

Can a school outside Italy take part?

Yes, and we would love that: with schools from 3 countries the alliance earns the certificate. This page and the presentation are available in English.

I have never done coding with my class. Can I still join?

Yes. The presentation guides you step by step, and codeweek.eu offers short free training modules for teachers. You can also write to us to talk it through.

When will my activity appear on the map?

After the Code Week ambassadors of your country approve it. You will receive an email when the status of your activity changes.

How do I protect my students’ privacy?

You do not need any personal data about students to register the activity, only the number of participants. Images must not show recognisable faces of children; on participation certificates you can use first names only.
